I don’t think that the ending of “The Giver” was a very good one since we don’t know what really happened to Jonas or Gabe since the book just ends with him sliding down a hill. Sure it leaves it open to whatever you want to happen, if you wanted them to live you could think that he actually Heard the Beyond, or you could think that they both didn’t have the strength to go on and they died. Either way I wasn’t very impressed with the ending.

Don’t you think that all books do that, leave you kinda wondering while at the same time answering some of the questions. I believe that the ending was pretty good it gave you enough information that you can be “satisfied” with the book. It gave you the understanding that he went to the other community and started a new life with Gabriel.
Not all books end with you wondering about what happened to the main characters.
I didn’t enjoy the ending to the book. There were a few questions that were in my head such as ” Do they find elsewhere?” or ” Do they die?”. I personally don’t like to be left on a hanger at the end of a book or a movie.
Lois left it like that because she didn’t even know how she was going to end the book.
